And a [F] dreamer's just a [Em] vessel that must [Dm] follow where it [G] goes [C] Trying to learn from what's behind him And never [Am] knowing what's in [F] store Makes each [C] day a constant battle Just to [G] stay between the [C] shores {c: } And I will [C] sail my vessel 'til the [F] river runs [C] dry, Like a [F] bird upon the [Em] wind these [Dm] waters are my [G] sky I'll never [C] reach my destination if I [G] never [F] try So I will [C] sail my vessel 'til the [G] river runs [C] dry. {c: } Too many [C] times we stand aside and let the [F] waters slip a-[C]way 'Til what we [F] put off 'til to-[C]morrow has [Dm] now become to-[G]day So don't you [C] sit upon the shoreline and [Am] say you're satis-[F]fied [C] Choose to chance the rapids and dare to [G] dance that [C] tide. {c: } And I will [C] sail my vessel 'til the [F] river runs [C] dry, Like a [F] bird upon the [Em] wind these [Dm] waters are my [G] sky I'll never [C] reach my destination if I [G] never [F] try So I will [C] sail my vessel 'til the [G] river runs [C] dry. {c: } [C] And there's [Am] bound to be rough [F] waters And I [C] know I'll take some [F] falls But with the [Dm] good Lord as my [Em] captain I can [F] make it through them [G] all {c: } [NC] And I will sail my vessel 'til the river runs dry, [NC] Like a bird upon the wind these waters are my sky I'll never [C] reach my destination if I [G] never [F] try So I will [C] sail my vessel 'til [G] the river [C] runs dry. Garth Brooks Explains How Simple ‘Chord Warm Up’ Turned Into Hit Song

Artists in general never know when inspiration will strike. For instance, a painter might create a series of paintings after seeing a particularly beautiful sunset. On the other hand, a photographer might see something small and turn it into an in-depth photo study. At the same time, a songwriter can grab inspiration from everyday activities. In much the same way, a musician can turn a simple noodling session or warmup into a fleshed-out song. Garth Brooks is one of those people who turned a practice session into a hit. After all, he has been making hits for decades. So, he knows a good tune when he hears it. He’s far from the only one.

In a recent episode of Inside Studio G, Garth Brooks discusses how guitar practice exercises can become full-fledged songs.

In response to a fan’s question, Garth Brooks sat down with his guitar to demonstrate how a simple warmup could become a hit song. He starts off by talking about the main riff from the Eagles‘ hit song “Life in the Fast Lane.” That opening guitar part is iconic. However, Brooks points out that it started out as Joe Walsh’s warmup exercise. Then he played part of the hit song, “Dust in the Wind,” by Kansas. He said that the classic finger-picked acoustic guitar in that song came from a practice exercise as well.

Then, Garth Brooks played his own finger exercise. What he played will immediately sound familiar to his long-time fans. He really drives it home when he starts singing. “She’s sun and rain. She’s fire and ice…” That’s right, the guitar on his 1995 chart-topper “She’s Every Woman,” started out as a warmup. Then, he shows how that same warmup went into his version of Ashley McBryde’s “Girl Goin’ Nowhere.”

Garth Brooks Hitting the Road in 2021

We have been slowly watching the world return to something that looks like “normal,” again. Last summer, we all watched concerts and festivals get canceled outright or pushed back for months at a time. This summer, on the other hand, is packed to the brim with great concerts and festivals. For instance, Garth Brooks is hitting the road for a nationwide tour. So, fans can hear him play “She’s Every Woman,” and many of his other hits live and in-person.

Garth Brooks will kick off his 2021 stadium tour in Las Vegas at the Allegiant Stadium on July 10th. Tickets for that event are already sold out. Unfortunately, most of his other shows are sold out as well. But, if you’re in the Nashville, Tennessee area, there’s still hope.

Garth Brooks is heading to Music City’s Nissan Stadium on July 31st. At the moment, tickets are still available on his website.

How to Play The Dance - Garth Brooks (cover) - Easy 4 Chord Tune

Standard (EADGBE)

Intro

There's a ship out on the ocean

At the mercy of the sea

It's been tossed about

Lost and broken

wandering aimlessly

And god somehow you know that ship is me

'Cause there's a lighthouse in a harbor

Shining faithfully

Pouring its light out

Across the water

Where this sinking soul can see

That someone out there still believes in me

On a prayer

In a song

I hear your voice

And it keeps me hanging on

Raining down

Against the wind

I'm reaching out

'Til we reach the circle's edge

When you come back to me again

There's a moment that we all come to

In our own time

And our own space

Where all that we've done

We can undo

If our heart's in the right place

On a prayer

In a song

I hear your voice

And it keeps me hanging on

Raining down

Against the wind

I'm reaching out

'Til we reach the circle's edge

And you come back to me again

And again I see

My yesterday's in front of me

Unfolding like a mystery

You're changing all that is and used to be

On a prayer

In a song

I hear your voice

And it keeps me hanging on

Raining down

Against the wind

I'm reaching out

'Til we reach the circle's edge

When you come back to me again

When you come back to me again
