If that doesn't help then re-register Xbox Game bar from Option 2 here: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/3175-apps-re...

And if that doesn't help then uninstall Game Bar in App Settings above, restart PC, reinstall Game Bar from Microsoft Store Settings > My Library.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted.

Some Windows 10 users might be having trouble recording game clips using Game DVR. The Xbox Support team provides information to help users resolve some Game DVR issues on Windows 10.

Before starting the troubleshooting process, however, check if your PC has the latest version of the Xbox app on Windows 10.

Also, users in the European Union and Korea who are using Windows 10 N or Windows 10 KN must first install the Media Feature Pack for N and KN versions of Windows 10 to carry out the troubleshooting.

Below, you will find a list of several known issues with Game DVR and some solutions we found:

1. Recording a game in full-screen mode

Users won’t see the Game bar in PC games in full-screen mode. This problem can be solved by using the Windows logo key + Alt + R to start and stop recordings. The screen flashes once the recording starts and completes.

You can also record the last 30 seconds (or whatever time you picked) using the Windows logo key + Alt + G, provided you have already turned on background recording.

You can also select Win + G in the event that the shortcuts do not work for a full-screen game. You will then see the screen flash twice, which means the game is recognized.

Then you can run the game in full-screen again and use the Windows logo key + Alt + R and Windows logo key + Alt + G.

2. Game bar and shortcuts not working

Download and install the latest Windows 10 updates on your PC. Select Settings from the Start menu then go to Update & security, and select Check for updates.check for updates

Also, check your Game DVR settings by selecting Settings in the Xbox App and clicking Game DVR. See to it that the Record game clips and screenshots using Game DVR setting is turned on.

Press the Windows logo key + G to open Game bar when playing a game and you will be asked to open Game bar. Select Yes.

3. Location for game clips and screenshots

Run a System Scan to discover potential errors

Run a PC Scan with Restoro Repair Tool to find errors causing security problems and slowdowns. After the scan is complete, the repair process will replace damaged files with fresh Windows files and components.

To see the location of your captures, open the Xbox App, select Settings, and click Game DVR. Choose Open folder to see your captures in File Explorer under Saving captures.

Windows 10 stores your game clips and screenshots in the Videos folder by default, in a folder named Captures. You can also move this to different places on your PC, including elsewhere on your hard drive or to external drives.

4. Fix recording issues

Recording may sometimes work only once or twice. To fix the issue, restart Game DVR:

  1. Close the game.
  2. In the search box on the Windows taskbar, enter Task manager, and then select that desktop app.
  3. In Task Manager, select More details.
  4. In the list of running processes, select the Broadcast DVR server (bcastdvr.exe) process (if it’s still there), and then select End task.
  5. Restart the game and try recording again.

So, if you can’t record your gameplay using Game DVR, maybe you should try using a different software solution for this task. Check out our guide on the best game recording software to use in 2019.

5. Customized shortcuts for Game bar not working

Custom keyboard shortcuts may sometimes not work because some games block keys. Update your apps and games in order to use Game bar with all games.

6. Using the Game bar on your tablet PC

Although Windows key–based Game bar shortcuts may not work on tablets without an attached physical keyboard, you can create your own shortcuts that make use of keys available on the virtual keyboard.

You can do so by opening the Xbox App and selecting Settings. Then choose Game DVR and enter your preferred keyboard shortcuts.

7. Deleting game memory in Game bar

The Game bar will remember a game once you’ve indicated that something is a game by pressing the Windows logo key + G.

On the other hand, if you want to make Game bar forget a game, start the game, open Game bar, select Settings, and uncheck Remember this as a game.

We hope that these solutions are going to help you to solve your issue. Please let us know in the comment section below if we somehow missed any issue known regarding Game DVR.

Also feel free to provide other solutions if you happen to find any.

Game DVR is a built-in Windows 10 tool that lets you record screen and games in the background. After recording, it will save the recorded file in the Game DVR capture folder so that you can enjoy it later or upload it to your favorite site.

If you are gamer, Game DVR is a very handy feature. On the other hand, Game DVR does take up system resources and it is quite easy to accidentally launch the application. If you are not a gamer or don’t see yourself using Game DVR, you can easily disable it. Follow the below steps to disable Game DVR on Windows 10.

There are three ways to disable Game DVR and GameBar on Windows 10. I will show all three ways. Use the jump links below to follow the method of your choice.

Jump to:

#1: Use PC Settings App Options to Disable Game DVR

The PC Settings app has the necessary options to disable Game DVR and Game Bar. All you have to do is toggle a switch and you are good to go.

1. Press the keyboard shortcut Win + I to open the PC Settings app. You can also click on the PC Settings icon appearing on the left bar in the start menu.

2. In the PC Settings app, go to Gaming -> Game Bar page.

3. On the right panel, toggle the switch under “Record game clips, screenshots and broadcast using Game bar” to Off position.

1. In the Run dialog box, type and click on the Ok button. This action will open the Group Policy Editor.

2. In the Group Policy Editor, go to the following folder. You can use the left panel’s folder tree to navigate.

Dvr game

Windows 10’s Game DVR feature can slow your gaming performance by recording video in the background. If you don’t care about recording your gameplay, disable Game DVR for performance reasons.

This also disables the “Game Bar”, which often pops up when you start playing games. It’s only helpful if you want to take screenshots or record gameplay.

What Are Game DVR and the Game Bar?

RELATED:How to Record PC Gameplay With Windows 10's Game DVR and Game Bar

The Game DVR feature in Windows 10 was originally part of the Xbox app, and it’s modeled on the similar feature on the Xbox One. Game DVR can automatically record video of your PC gameplay in the background with “background recording”, saving this video to a file when you choose. If you don’t choose to save it, Game DVR discards that video and continues recording in the background. This allows you to play games normally and then decide to save the last five minutes of gameplay to a file when something cool happens.

Unfortunately, Game DVR takes system resources. On a slower computer–or if you just want maximum graphical horsepower for your games–it can noticeably slow your in-game performance and lower your FPS. If you don’t care about recording your gameplay, you’ll want to disable this feature. This Game DVR feature may or may not be enabled by default, depending on your PC’s hardware.

The Game Bar is the graphical interface that allows you to record gameplay, save clips, and take screenshots with the Game DVR feature. It doesn’t necessarily lower your system performance, but it can get in the way by popping up. The Game Bar is always enabled by default on Windows 10.

Even after disabling Game DVR and the Game Bar, normal in-game screenshot shortcuts and NVIDIA’s game recording feature, formerly known as ShadowPlay, will still function. Game DVR is just one of many options for recording gameplay and taking screenshots.

How to Disable Game DVR

In Windows 10’s Creators Update, Game DVR and Game Bar settings have been moved to the main Settings application where they belong. They’re no longer buried in the Xbox application like they used to be.

To disable Game DVR, head to Settings > Gaming > Game DVR. Ensure the “Record in the background while I’m playing a game” option here is set to “Off”.

You’ll still be able to start a manual recording from the Game Bar, but Windows 10 won’t automatically record anything in the background.

How to Disable the Game Bar

To disable the Game Bar, head to Settings > Gaming > Game Bar. Set the “Record game clips, screenshots, and broadcast using Game bar” option here to “Off”.

You won’t see the Game bar in the future unless you return to this screen and turn it back on.
