Evil Beyblades

every once in a while (or often) in a Beyblade anime, we'd see an antagonist with some evil, super-powered Beyblade.

In the original series we saw Kai Hiwatari go to Russia and acquire Black Dranzer, which was created a couple or so centuries before the events of the original series by a fictional version of Grigori Rasputin.

In V-Force, we saw the mechanical Cyber Bit-Beastsas their wielders try and steal the four Sacred Bit-Beasts for Dr. Zaggart to use to make Zeo, who wields the unbelievable Cerberus, a real boy. Plus, the Cyber Bit-Beasts were also possessing the minds of the Psykicks that used them.

In G-Revolution, we witnessed Brooklyn of BEGA's Beyblading team hold the power of the demonic Chimera-type Bit-Beast Zeus, and even getting possessed by it in battle!

In Beyblade The Movie: Fierce Battle, we witness the dark counterparts of the four Sacred Beasts escape from their prison, taking possession of four innocent children to become their hosts in a bid for total destruction of the world and vengeance on their benevolent counterparts. They kidnap Daichi, and corrupted him and his Bit-Beast Gaia Dragoon for their conquest. Tyson tried to fight them the first time but had Dragoon sealed away in the same place where they were imprisoned. After a while, Tyson managed to free Dragoon and they went on to stop the Dark Bit-Beasts and save Daichi, which they did with Ray, Max, and Kai, freeing the four children from the influence of the Dark Bit-Beasts, which were once again sealed away, and their temple prison sank into the ocean, never to be seen again...

In Beyblade Metal Fusion, we have Ryuga, leader of the Dark Nebula, in possession and under the influence of the forbidden Beyblade Lightning L-Drago, until Gingka and Pegasus defeated him and freed Ryuga.

In the MFB movie Metal Fight Beyblade VS the Sun: Sol Blaze, the Scorching-hot Invader, we see extreme weather conditions caused by the ancient ultimate-type Beyblade Sol Blaze, used by Helios, who is the latest to inherit the powerful Beyblade, as he fought Gingka and Pegasus. But, I don't know if Sol Blaze counts as an evil Bey, but then again, it has been passed down since ancient times, and is capable of causing extreme weather conditions to develop in different parts of the world at once when it battles another Beyblade. I wonder if Helios' family has had an ages-old plot to take over or destroy the world using Sol Blaze.

Plus, all through the 4D series there's the mysterious villain Black Sunand his equally mysterious and potentially powerful Beyblade Nemesis.

"It is written among the limitless constellations of the celestial heavens, and in the depths of the emerald seas, and upon every grain of sand in the vast deserts, that the world which we see is an outed and visible dream of an inward and invisible reality." - Opening narration, The Thief and the Cobbler (original workprint)

Evil Befall UW145EWD

Kirā Bifōru UW145EWD

United States

November 2011

Evil Befall UW145EWDor Killer Beafowl UW145EWD(キラービフォールUW145EWD, Kirā Bifōru UW145EWD) is a BalanceType Beybladethat appears in the anime and manga series Beyblade: Metal Masters. It was released by Takara Tomyin Random Booster Vol. 6 Killer Beafowlon December 28, 2010 in Japan, and in western countries as a Starter Pack in November 2011.

Face Bolt - Befall

Main article: Face Bolt - Befall

The Face Bolt depicts "Pavo", one of the 88 constellations in space. Pavo is Latin and Spanish for "peacock" and is represented as such. The design features the Befall/Beafowl in a white outline while printed on a translucent violet Face Bolt.

Energy Ring - Befall

Main article: Energy Ring - Befall

Befall is a translucent pink in color and features black arrow designs emulating the feathers of a peacock, opposite of each other; a total of eight. The arrows point right as well. Befall also has square-like sides between the wings. These sides feature very small gaps with circular, peacock details.

Fusion Wheel - Evil

Main article: Fusion Wheel - Evil

Evil has a textured, bumpy, two-winged design that ends in two rounded edges. However, unlike its predecessor, it is considerably thinner even with a smaller amount of metal dropping below the base of the Fusion Wheel. Being so thin, the edges of each wing do not apply as much force as those of the Evil/Killer Gemios Fusion Wheel. As a result, Evil loses any of the potential Smash Attack the first incarnation had. Being so thin negates any possible defensive qualities, and though it may seem suited for Stamina, it performs horribly compared to the Top-Tier Stamina Fusion Wheels such as Earth, Thermal, Flame, Burn, Scythe, and Phantom.

Attack: 3 - Defense: 3 - Stamina: 1

Spin Track - Upper Wing 145

Main article: Spin Track - UW145

Upper Wing 145 is a variation of ED145 and WD145 that as its name suggests, is to provide Upper Attack. UW145 is composed of three large wings that are very spiky and edgy in design. It has two Modes, "Attack Mode" and "Defense Mode". It can switched simply by removing the wings and flipping them. In Attack Mode, the wings are angled downwards, in a clockwise manner. In Defense Mode however, the wings are angled upwards, counter-clockwise. Although UW145 was stated to be able to conduct Upper Attack, this does not have any effect due to UW145 being placed under the Wheel where it does not have any known contact with the opposing Bey's Wheel. However, UW145's sharp points in Attack Mode can conduct Smash Attack, but the effect is, once again, negligible.

Overall, UW145 is not an outclassed Spin Track. Despite its name, it cannot conduct any Upper Attack at all, only Smash Attack, but this does not have much of an effect. Its wings can be used for Defense however, it has more stamina because of the up-force power, which performs opposite DF145 and T125. This may also reduce its defense power since UW145 adds almost no weight to the bey, and since the wings do not come in contact with regularly height beys, against regularly height beys the wings are overall quite useless.

Performance Tip - Eternal Wide Defense

Bottom ewd img.jpg
Main article: Performance Tip - Eternal Wide Defense

Eternal Wide Defense is part of a series of existing Bottoms prefixed with Eternal, featuring bearing-based tips. EWD, as its name suggests, is a bearing-implemented version of WD. It features a similar wide shape, but the pointy tip of the Bottom is replaced by a free-spinning sharp piece. This rotates freely, and increases the balance and spin-retention of the Bottom. Unlike ES, the Bottom does not suffer from balance issues because of its wide shape, which allows it many of the same survival capabilities as WD at low spin velocities. Friction on this part seems to be a problem for it. As EWD wears down, it loses a lot of its stamina capabilities and wearing down affects its performance a lot. Since it is only one bearing, there is still a considerable amount of friction between the bearing and the tip, and paired together, the effects are hardly negligible in comparison to WD. WD usually overshadows EWD because of more availability due to a more widespread release, and EWD has more cons than pros when compared. The grinding between the bearing and the tip often can lead to both increased stamina and decreased stamina if too much grinding is produced. This Bottom is also more useful in mid-height customizations, whereas WD is prefered for low combos and SD and D on higher ones. As such, mid-height Beyblades are generally not prefered in battles due to their average performance and their imbalance caused by a slightly off center of gravity. However, EWD has found a very special place in Spin Stealing combinations, providing the few more rotations to a Beyblade needed to outspin an opponent in the last few seconds of a match. It therefore goes beyond WD in that domain, but the friction between its components can still render the BeyBattle a draw instead of surviving the opposing Beyblade. Furthermore, like with every Bottom of the D series, EWD remains rather easy to knock out with any proper Attack combination.

Around the time of its release, EWD was paired with Meteo L-Drago and CH120 for a powerful Spin Stealing customization, however, with the appearance of the 4D System and then Zero-G, Meteo L-Drago's light weight was inefficient to keep winning against new top-tier combos. It has although found use in the innovative Zero-G metagame.

Wearing of EWD

EWD Bottoms in general are vulnerable to wearing that renders them illegal and alters their performance, transforming them into more aggressive tips, however Hasbro has been found to release even more fragile EWDs. These widespread versions wear down and become rounder considerably more quickly than both TAKARA-TOMY's and SonoKong's releases. It is therefore preferable to purchase more of the latter companies' Killer Beafowl UW145EWD or Nightmare Rex UW145EWD to ensure a longer, legal performance.

Use in Stamina customization

EWD's Spin-Stealing abilities convey to the combination Duo Cancer/Cygnus/Aquario SA165/W145EWD the extra spin required to outlast other Beyblades in Zero-G Stadiums.

Kira Jemiosu DF145FS

United States

August 2010

Evil Gemios DF145FSor Killer Gemios DF145FS(キラージェミオスDF145FS, Kira Jemiosu DF145FS) is a BalanceType Beybladethat appears in the anime and manga series Beyblade: Metal Fusion. It is owned by Dan Sodoand Reiki Sodo. It was released by Takara Tomyin the Hybrid Wheel Custom Set Attack & Balance Typeon November 21, 2009.

Face Bolt - Gemios

Facebolt GEMIOS BB56 21337.png

The Face depicts Gemini, the third astrological sign in the Zodiac. The face itself depicts 2 spirits (fire and ice). It looks a bit like Ying and Yang. The face is manufactured with the Pre-HWS design printed on; and a new, more colorful version can be added with one of the 2 Gemios Face Stickers in the Hybrid Wheel Reshuffle Set Attack and Balance type. Each one shows a number (blue is 1, red is 2)

Energy Ring - Gemios

Gemios follows the same aesthetic principles as the Gemios Metal Wheel; and Killer, with a similar two-winged design. It is the lightest Clear Wheel available, however, it can be used in Stamina combos with a heavier track too.

Fusion Wheel - Evil

Evil (or Killer in Japan) has a textured, bumpy, two-winged design that ends in two rounded edges. However, unlike its predecessor, it is considerably thinner, even with a smaller amount of metal dropping below the base of the Fusion Wheel. Being so thin, the edges of each wing do not apply as much force as those of the Gemios Fusion Wheel; as a result, Evil loses any of the potential Smash Attack the first incarnation had. Being so thin negates any possible defensive qualities; and though it may seem suited for Stamina, it preforms poorly compared to the top-tier Stamina Fusion Wheels such as Virgo, Burn, Flame, and Earth. Although this Fusion Wheel is extremely outclassed, it does show promise for Barrage Attacks and can be put in destabilizer combos, it is slightly better than Dark in terms of stamina.

Spin Track - Down Force 145

Main article: Spin Track - Down Force 145

Down Force 145 (DF145) has four upward facing wings protruding from the top of the Spin Track, which aside from giving it extra weight are meant to push air downwards. It is outclassed for use in Stamina combinations. Instead, Spin Tracks such as AD145 and 145 are used.

Performance Tip - Flat Spike

Flat Sharp.jpg
Main article: Performance Tip - Flat Spike

Flat Spike (FS) or Flat Sharp, features a flat tip with a smaller, sharper spike tip in the center. As a result, when launched at a straight angle, the Beyblade spins on this spike tip, with very little movement. However, when the Beyblade is tilted, either from contact with an opposing Beyblade or from the launch, the Performance Tip moves in an offensive pattern. However, it suffers from the same problems as other Balance Type Performance Tips, in that the two qualities are compromised, resulting in mediocre performance in both fields.

Takara Tomy

  • Evil Gemios is the only Beyblade to have the same bottom parts as its Metal System predecessor, Gemios DF145FS.
  • Evil Gemios is the only shared Beyblade controlled by two Bladers. It is shared by Dan Sodo and Reiki Sodo, twin brothers.
  • Evil Gemios has the same DF145FS combo as Evil Gemios DF145FS.
  • It is the first Bey to have the Evil fusion wheel. The second being Evil Befall.
