10 Sonic Games That Need To Be Ported To The Switch

Sega and Nintendo's rivalry is long dead, so Sonic the Hedgehog is welcome on the Switch. What games of the blue blur need to be added to the console?

Sonic the Hedgehogis one of the most popular gaming franchises ever made. As most titles in the series are platformers, Sega's incredibly fast mascot quickly became a rival to the superstar of Nintendo, Mario. However, over the years, Nintendo and Sega worked together, and it's now hard for people to think of Sonic the Hedgehog without thinking of Nintendo.

The games in the series have appeared on many Nintendo systems and the titular character was one of the first to appear in Super Smash Bros., despite not being owned by Nintendo. Sonic and Mario also have their own spin-off series, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. Though Sonic has played an important role in Nintendo's history, many games that he and his friends are featured in aren't on the Switch. Here are ten that should be.

10 Sonic Heroes

Sonic Heroes is one of the best 3D platformers in the series, and it has almost been two decades since the game originally released. It came out in 2003 on the GameCube, as well as the Xbox, PS2, and PC. In this title, players control twelve characters, which are divided into four groups.

Team Sonic allows players to control the titular character and his two best friends, Tails and Knuckles. Team Rose consists of Amy, Big, and Cream. Team Chaotix lets fans play as Charmy, Vector, and Espio. Finally, Team Dark consists of Shadow, Rouge, and Omega. Since fans were able to play together and multiplayer has improved over time, it would be great to see this installment return.

9 Sonic Riders

Sonic Riders is a spin-off racing title that came to the GameCube in 2006, as well as the PS2, PC, and Xbox. There are 16 racers that players control, consisting of the main characters in the series, as well as some new faces and personas from other Sega franchises.

The new characters – Jet, Storm, and Wave – play an important part in the game's story, being just as significant as Sonic and his friends. There are also 16 racetracks as well as multiple modes, giving fans a lot to do.

8 Sonic Advance

Sonic Advance released on the Game Boy Advance, as well as mobile devices, in 2002. It was a 2D platformer that allowed players to control Sonic, Amy, Knuckles, and Tails. People can also compete by seeing who can beat a level first and connect this title to the Sonic Adventure games, allowing them to trade over the Chao they obtain.

This was one of the best Game Boy Advance games, resulting in two sequels coming out shortly after.

7 Shadow The Hedgehog

Shadow is one of the most beloved characters in the franchise, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that he had his own spin-off game. It released in 2005 on the GameCube, Xbox, and PS2.

The game consists of many missions that players can go on, with their choices as to which levels to play affecting what happens next. As a result, this is one of the most replayable titles in the series as multiple playthroughs are needed to see all the routes.

6 Sonic Colors

Sonic Colors came to the Wii and DS in 2010, with each system having a drastically different version of the game compared to the other. The Wii version has a lot of similarities to other 3D platformers while the DS version takes inspiration from the earlier installments of the franchise.

Many people enjoyed both versions so it'd be great for either one to come to the Switch, or, what would be even better, is if they both did.

5 Sonic Rush

Sonic Rush is a 2D platformer that came to the DS in 2005. When two characters from an alternate dimension, Blaze and Eggman Nega, go into Sonic's world, they battle their counterpart's greatest enemy.

Players can control Blaze, who fights the Eggman from other titles, and Sonic, who fights Eggman Nega. As this was one of the most successful games on the DS the year it released, the same could happen again if it's ported to the Switch.

4 Sonic Generations

Sonic Generations released on the 3DS, as well as the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, in 2011. Like Sonic Colors, there are two versions of this game, with the 3DS being the only one that is different compared to the other systems it came out on.

The 3DS version replaces some of the levels and bosses with different settings and characters, and the whole game is a 2D platformer. There are also features in the 3DS version that aren't included with the other systems, making it even better in some ways. Though most fans prefer the original version, it would make more sense for Nintendo to port the game that was already on one of their devices.

3 Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood

Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood is a very unique installment in the franchise as it is a turn-based RPG, which released on the DS in 2008. As it was developed by BioWare rather than Sega, it was an underrated title, especially since this isn't something that gamers would expect the developers of Mass Effect and Dragon Age to work on.

There are eleven characters for players to control and this title has one of the biggest stories in the series. As the DS' stylus was an important part of the gameplay, players would probably either use the Switch as a tablet or the game would use motion controls.

2 Sonic Adventure

Sonic Adventure was a revolutionary title in the franchise as it was the first one to be in 3D. The game originally released on the Dreamcast in 1999 before coming to the GameCube, along with other systems, years later.

Players control Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, Amy, Gamma, and Big as they fight against Eggman and Chaos. It is one of the best Sonic the Hedgehog games ever made and would be even more successful on the Switch.

1 Sonic Adventure 2

Due to how successful Sonic Adventure was, a sequel was made. Sonic Adventure 2 came to the Dreamcast in 2001 and the GameCube a few months later, while not being on any other system for a decade.

In this title, Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails fight Shadow, Eggman, and Rouge, with both groups being playable. It would be great if both Sonic Adventure games were bundled together and ported to the Switch, allowing both longtime fans and newcomers to play two of the best installments in the franchise.
