Yaesu (brand)

Yaesu FT-180 commercial HF ship/shore communications equipment

Yaesu, founded as Yaesu Musen Co., Ltd. (八重洲無線株式会社, Yaesu Musen Kabushiki-gaisha) in 1959 by a Japanese radio amateur Sako Hasegawa with call signJA1MP[1] in the Tokyo neighborhood of Yaesu, is a Japanese brand of commercial and amateur radio equipment.

The initial intent seemed to have been to develop and manufacture commercial and amateur radio transceivers for the Japanese market, but by 1964 there were sales agreements placed in Australia and Germany.

In Europe, the equipment was sold under the Yaesu brand and the Sommerkamp brand. In 1963 the Swiss firm Sommerkamp imported Yaesu equipment and sold it using their own brand.

Yaesu's line of equipment was first imported into the US by Spectronics, Inc. located in Signal Hill, CA, in 1965. Yaesu became an important presence in the U.S. amateur radio market with the introduction and improvement of its very popular FT-101 line of equipment in the 1970s. In addition, transceivers were OEM'd to Henry Radio in Los Angeles. Spectronics was founded by William Turner, father of Robert Turner who went on to found EMG, Inc. manufacturer of EMG Pickups for electric guitars.

Sako Hasegawa (JA1MP) died in 1993 and Jun Hasegawa took over his job as managing director.

Yaesu Musen acquired the STANDARD radio equipment brand from Marantz Japan in 1998 and changed the company name to Vertex Standard Co., Ltd. (株式会社バーテックススタンダード, Kabushiki-gaisha Bātekkusu Sutandādo) in 2000. In 2007 Motorola announced its intention to purchase 80% of Vertex Standard and form a joint venture with Tokogiken (a privately held Japanese company controlled by Jun Hasegawa), which would hold the other 20%. This deal was completed in January 2008.[2] The joint venture was dissolved effective January 1, 2012. The Vertex Standard land mobile division operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.[3] The Amateur Radio, Airband and Marine Radio business was transferred to the new company "Yaesu Musen".[4]

It is a metal-cased receiver with a polymer front and it is suitable for reception in the AM, FM, CW and SSB modes. Its frequency coverage is from 150 kHz – 30.0 MHz continuously in 30 switchable band segments. Its frequency readout is available in a traditional analog (dish) mode as well as in a digital display mode.[5] Called a “budget receiver”, the FRG-7700 was released in 1978 as successor to the FRG-7000 and priced at approximately US$450. This type was in production until 1982.[6] The FRG-7700 is a superheterodyne type receiver going up to 48 MHz in the Intermediate Frequency trap, followed by a fully synthesized local oscillators in the 1st and 2nd mixer unit and thus creating a VFO that is reasonably stable after warm-up.[7][page needed][8][page needed]

FTDX101MPFTDX101MP

The tradition and quality of the Yaesu HF product line lives on with the new FTDX101MP model. In Homage to the found of Yaesu - Sako Hasegawa JA1MP - we are pleased to announce this model. This transceiver covers the HF/50 Mhz bands, is capable of 200 watts of power, VC Tune for the Main and Sub Band included, along with Crystal Roofing Filters for CW (300 Hz Main only/600Hz), SSB (3 Khz), and AM (12 Khz) makes this the ultimate radio. With the 3DSS (3-Dimensional Spectrum Stream) you can see signals that you might not have had the chance to tune in before they disappear. Adding in the advanced and high quality SDR receivers which allow for Narrow Band and Direct Sampling SDR functions enables you to hear signals that others are unable to hear. No need to worry about which power supply or external speaker to use as the FTDX101MP comes with a combined speaker/power supply combination. This matching set makes the FTDX101MP not only a high-quality radio but a picture of beauty.
FTDX101DFTDX101D

The Ultimate HF/50 Mhz transceiver has arrived continuing on the tradition of high-quality HF products. Named after the well-known FT-101, which is a corner stone in the history of HF transceivers, the future is here with the birth of the FTDX101D. Featuring 100 watts of power, VC Tune for the Main Band (Sub Band optional purchase), Crystal Roofing Filters for CW (600 Hz), SSB (3 Khz), and AM (12 Khz) makes this radio ready to work in a weak signal environment. "We believe that hearing a weak target signal in an environment of close strong interference is the most important feat required of HF DX communications equipment in every era. Raising and meeting the goal is the ultimate mission that Yaesu has challenged for over 60 years."
DR-2XDR-2X

The DR-2X repeater is part of the next generation of the System Fusion II (C4FM) product line. The DR-2X can be set-up to operate as a VHF, UHF, VHF -> UHF, or UHF -> VHF repeater (crossbanding is not bi-directional), is capable of 50/25/5 watt operation, DTMF analog control, System Fusion digital control (with a mobile radio), two active receivers, ability to run in AMS or Fixed modes, the ability to do DG-ID - CTCSS - DCS - or split CTCSS/DCS operation, and true digital voice linking with the IMRS (LAN) board allows the repeater to fit all needs. No need to worry about programming cables or software with this repeater as this is all done via the front panel touchscreen. With the ability to run the repeater on 12 volts DC or 120 volts AC (North America version) the repeater can go where you need to go for operation.

Ft 270-R Features

5 Watts Output

The FT-270R provides 5 Watts of solid power

Large Backlit LCD Display

Want a handheld with a display you can actually see?! The FT-270R is the handheld for you.

Submersible!

The FT-270R conforms to IPX7 specifications for submersibility (submersion for up to 30 minutes at a depth of one meter).

Outstanding Receiver Audio

The FT-270R’s hefty 800 mW of audio provides plenty of volume when operating in a noisy environment.

1400 mAh Battery Pack Yields Long Operating Time

The FT-270R is supplied with a long-life 1400 mAh Ni-MH Battery Pack, for extended operating time during search-and-rescue or public service event operations.

Power Saving Circuit Design

The FT-270R design includes Yaesu’s exclusive power saving circuit design to ensure longer operating time that most other handhelds with comparable batteries.

Expanded Receiver Coverage

The receiver’s frequency range is 136-174 MHz, covering many public service, marine, and government channels.

User Password

To prevent an unauthorized person from using your FT-270R, you may engage a security password that must be keyed in prior to operation, if you like.

200 Memory Channels

The 200 memories may be partitioned into as many as 10 memory groups. Alpha-numeric labeling is available on all memories.

Keyboard Frequency Entry

Operating frequencies may be entered directly from the front panel keypad, which may also be used for quick recall of memory channels by number.

Weather Broadcast Channels

In the U.S. version, a dedicated special memory bank of ten NOAA Weather Channels is available, with a “Severe Weather” alert capability.

EAI (Emergency Automatic ID) Feature

Ideal for search-and-rescue work, the EAI feature can be commanded on so as to identify your FT-270R, and engage your PTT and microphone, remotely in an emergency situation. So if you don’t check in during a search, help can be dispatched, with the automatic TX function allowing others to perform direction finding.

Split Tone Capability

Besides the usual CTCSS and DCS Encode/Decode features you’ve come to know and love on a Yaesu transceiver, the FT-270R includes a “Split Tone” capability that allows you to Encode a CTCSS tone, and Decode DCS, or vice-versa. You can also Encode (without decoding) either CTCSS or DCS.
